FussBusters at Home: Strategies and Games for Smoothing the Rough Spots in Your Preschooler's Day
Published in Paperback by Peachtree Publishers (April, 2002)
Author: Carol Baicker-McKee

Fun and Realistic
It feels like I am chatting with a friend over coffee and problem solving about a crazy weekend. There were some great ideas but even the auther reminds you that all the ideas are not right for everyone which keeps you from feeling like a complete failure (a la Martha Stewart). Good kid stories that make you smile and even laugh aloud and Reminds us all to have FUN!

Truly Useful!
Finally, a parenting book that doesn't make me feel bad! Instead, Fussbusters makes you feel like you're in it together with a friend. It's full of humor, realistic advice, and parenting expertise. Makes me want to actually try some of these activities -- once I can put the book down! A really fun read.

A Garden for a Groundhog
Published in Hardcover by Humbug Books (November, 1994)
Author: Lorna Balian

A Garden for a Groundhog
This is one of my VERY FAVORITE children's books. I love the story and colorful illustrations. My husband and I could be fitting examples of Mr. & Mrs. O'Leary, the couple in this story. It is a wonderful story to explicit the seasons to young children. I read it each year to 1st graders. The groundhog is such a adorable and cunning character...Ms. Balian does a sensational job with every book she writes..I only wish there were more of her books!

Garden For A groundhog
I am a fan of Ms. Balian's books. This book is especially good for the fact that it gives a story that can be used in preschools and primary grades to teach about ground hog day, but also the telling of the seasons. I love the facial features of the ground hog. Worth reading again and again.

Genesis of Grace: A Lenten Book of Days
Published in Paperback by Upper Room (January, 1998)
Author: John Indermark
Average review score:

Excellent Daily Devotional Study
The problem with Indermark's Genesis of Grace is that it ends. I wanted his insights and daily readings to continue beyond Easter. Here it is fifty days later and I still miss the book. I hope the author will publish other materials.

Indermark's writing combines biblical stories (readings each day in Genesis) with a commentary that ranges from biblical practice to a very contemporary visit to Auschwitz. This is a good daily devotional book.

Surprising study for Lent
Daily readings in the book of Genesis are a bit of a surprise for the season of Lent, but I found this book to be an exception aid during Lent of '98. Indermark focuses on the spiritual journey and makes some surprising connections with contemporary concerns.

Getting Started in Online Day Trading
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (15 January, 2000)
Author: Kassandra Bentley
Average review score:

Perfect for the beginner
I loved this book. I knew very little about the stock market and was interested in day trading. This book was perfect. It covered it all. In addition, it recommended other books and websites on the topics as you went along. I borrowed it from the library, then decided I had to buy it as a reference.

Great Book
As the title indicates, this book is for the total beginner. The author takes the reader by the hand and guides him / her through the complex world of online day trading. All of the major areas of concern are covered: Everything from what is day trading and opening your online account to strategies and techniques used to gain profits. This book provides a great bird's-eye-view, kind of a road map for the long journey ahead. This book is not intended to cover every area of day trading with an exhaustive explanation, but rather, introduce each subject and point the reader in the right direction for further study. I strongly recommend this book. Happy trading.

Give Me 40 Days: An Invitation for an Encounter With God
Published in Hardcover by Bridge-Logos Publishers (01 March, 2001)
Author: Freeda Bowers
Average review score:

excellent book, don't let the boring title fool you
A very deep and insightful book. Just when you think you know so much, you will learn even more. More for the deeper, or wanting to get deeper type of believer.

Give Me 40 Days
This was a life changing book for me. Freeda showed how the number 40 is used over 120 times in the Bible. It is a signifiant number on how God relates to humanity. Freeda shared her life-defining moment of crying out to God in frustration when God spoke back to her heart and said "Give me 40 Days" and now she invites everyone who wants to really learn how to pray to Give God 40 Days for themselves. I like the quick daily teachings, the starter prayers, encourageing quotes and the daily journal. This book helped me find a path through all of the problems I was dealing with.

It helped change my life and even better help me get closer to God.

A Glass Full of Tears: Dementia Day-By-Day
Published in Paperback by Writers World Pr (June, 1996)
Authors: June Lund Shiplett and Lavern Hall
Average review score:

the most profound book I have read on multi-infarct dementia
As I watch my husband in the subtle and beginning stages of this agonizing disease and read June Shiplett's Glass Full Of Tears, I can only imagine my years of care-giving yet to come. Her log of her husband's vascular dementia is becoming my calendar as well. Most books are written about Alzheimer's and even though multi-infarct dementia is a kissing cousin of alzheimers, there is a behavioral difference. Shiplett is walking me through my days and I wish I could hug her for writing this book...... it seems it is written just for me.

a very touching and honest account shared with dignity & lov
It is hard to put in writing how the book effected me. It was very moving and helped to understand some of the emotions that we experience when care giving to a loved one. I appreciate Mrs. Shiplett sharing such a private and special part of her life. It is by far her richest Love Story she has written.

Glory Days
Published in Paperback by St. Martin's Press (August, 2001)
Author: Bill Reynolds
Average review score:

an ex-player must
This is the second Bill Reynolds book that I have read. Loved them both. I found his descriptions taking me back to high school and the playground. It brought back a lot of memories and also made me think about how I prioritized basketball for so many years.

Non basketball junkies may call Bill's live experiences crazy. I dream of some of his experiences. Great book!

An engaging personal memoir of interest to all ex-jocks.
Bill Reynolds is certainly one of America's finest sports journalists. "Glory Days" addsto that luster. While some may dismiss it as a purely personal account of one's growing up, it is a lot more. It is a book to be read and enjoyed by all former star athletes, high school or college, who realized at some subsequent point in their life that they had to move on but did not want to let go of the one thing that they had worked at while growing up A disclaimer: Bill was a fraternity brother of mine at Brown.

Glory Days With the Dodgers, and Other Days With Others
Published in Hardcover by Scribner (May, 1978)
Author: John. Roseboro
Average review score:

A GREAT BALL PLAYER THAT DIDN'T GET RECOGNITION
I enjoyed this book very much. John Roseboro Jr. told of his life growing up in a very small town. His love for his family, and his accomplishments as a pro ball player for the Dodgers. John was a great ball player who should have been recognized more. Hopefully, he will write another great book. Marilyn Yates

Classic baseball bio
One of the most sought after baseball bio's published in the last 25 years, this is one of the very few sports autobiographies that really shows what is was like to be a "star" and what life was like after the spotlight in baseball retirement. Now out of print, the book has become quite a sought after item among Dodger memorabilia collectors and baseball history enthusiasts.

Now a Feature Film
This book has just been made into a movie called "The First of May" starring Julie (East of Eden) Harris as Carlotta, introducing Dan Byrd as Dan, Charles Nelson Reilly, and Mickey Rooney, with a cameo by Joe DiMaggio. It wrapped in Lake Helen, Florida in mid December '97 and will be distributed in 1998.

Delightful book!
This book was one of the best, most delightful, insightfully written and charmingly told story. Heard it's going to be made into a movie with Julie Harris starring as the lead and Charles Nelson Reilly and Joe DiMaggio in supporting roles!
